I seem to only talk about Benefit these days! Clearly it worked as I've been very lucky this year to receive lots of Benefit Cosmetic goodies for Christmas! I dont like to do a 'what I got for Christmas' as its often hard to photograph it when it comes to Christmas day and now its all around my room so the main present this year was my new Samsung S4 phone, FINALLY no iphone 3g brick, so glad to be gone of the brick that couldn't even take photos or accept phone calls. Now, I have my shiny app-tastic Samsung. I also got new straighteners as mine died a sad death, a tartan scarf, skincare bits and pieces, L'Occitane items, clothes, a new gorgeous purse and lots of money too.

Now, onto the Benefit, I had asked 'Santa' for the Gimme Some Lovin' set from Benefit which contains the They're Real Mascara and Hoola Bronzer in full size, and high beam and porefessional in smaller sizes. I LOVE They're Real Mascara it's one of my favourites for all over greatness, cannot rave enough about it, you can find my review here [LINK]. Hoola Bronzer is a bronzer I've tried many a time at a benefit counter but never had the guts to justify the price despite its beauty. The benefit boxed powders are beautiful, all of the blushers are gorgeous and you get lots of product plus the packaging is gorgeous. However, at £23.50 it's always been out of range as thats the amount I pay for foundation and thats it. But since the tin was around the £40+ mark, getting the two full sized products and the two little extras plus the tin, and of course, it was a present, made the gift totally justifiable and I'm so glad to have Hoola in my life. It is just as beautiful as I imagined, and you will of course be seeing a review in the new year of this.

The 'One Prime Day' little set is a great set for me, as it contains three little primers which I've loved using before and am happy to stock up on. Although you can feel 'conned' or sample sized with these sizes, I always have the mini porefessional's on the go and they do last if you're good with sizing too! I'm excited to use all these products.

Then the last makeup item is the Hello Flawless Oxygen wow Foundation. As you may know from my previous review of the foundation I was pleasantly surprised and after a trip to the Benefit counter to get matched up, I found a great match and caved in as a Christmas treat to myself. It was definitely worth it and cant wait to use all these products together to get the perfect benefit base. I definitely think Benefit products when all used together give this great glamorous look!

Lastly in my little set of Benefit goodies, I received the skincare set they sell for around £10 or so, it contains trial sizes of all their skincare products from face washes, exfoliator, two moisturisers, a eye cream and a toner. I'm again, really surprised how much I love these. I've only used them once or twice so far but saw immediate results and loved the facial polish. I will give a better review after a few tests but absolutely impressed and think the way you can trial them is a great set which I believe is around all year too!

I'm very grateful for all my benefit beauties and will be reviewing the new pieces within the next few weeks! Anything you especially want to see let me know!  Did you receive any benefit this christmas too! Or anything I should add to my collection?

Benefit will always be my favourite, they hold a special place in my heart. A few weeks ago I bought up a Feel Unique haul and treated myself to some new little benefit products! You can find that haul here [LINK

I've been giving this set a good go now, so much so that some of these products are nearly used up! This is in the 'light' range but you can get a 'medium' and a 'dark' shade range too. I obviously went for the light, and can say it was a good choice and good colouring. Sometimes you see packs that are 'one size fits all' and doesnt fit AT ALL.

I wouldn't say a porcelain could work this shade, but its good for 'fair' skintones. If in doubt, visit the boutiques or counters to get a match!

Within the set you get, Porefessional Primer, if you've read The Beauty Type before, you'll know how much I love this stuff, its liquid god to me! This stuff makes makeup last, and skin perfect for makeup. I've said it so often so I'll save the raving but perfect primer for foundation and makeup wear.

Hello, Flawless! Oxygen WOW Foundation in Cheers to Me, which I was thoroughly surprised by! I really like this foundation, I was concerned it was going to be a bit too light for me, but it works as a great medium build foundation with a good coverage and one pump is plenty for the face. If I want heavy coverage two pumps creates a great base. It also gives a great luminosity to the skin, so yes its not a matte foundation but gives a really healthy look to the skin. I am tempted to buy the full size of this foundation for sure!

For concealer you get Bo-ing Industrial Concealer in 01 and 02 , I love that they gave you both shades in this set in a really great little container. I like to mix the two concealers to create a bit more coverage and both of the shades mixed together also create the perfect shade to compliment the foundation.

Then to set everything is the Hello Flawless Face powder in Me Vain? Champagne.  I really love using this powder to set everything together, it keeps the glow from the foundation underneath but takes away the bad type of shine and makes the face really look flawless, it seems to be a heavier powder but saying that you couldn't get away with wearing just this. It does help the foundation to last a lot longer throughout the day and when you want a touch up you can just use the powder to set it and take away shine again!

The little brush hasn't been any use to me as its not at all applicable for any of the products and I prefer to use my own brushes or fingers for the concealer.

It has taken me over two months use the foundation up, and I managed to get every drop out. I used the foundation nearly everyday but with a few days of exception.  The primer was gone in a few weeks, I like to use a big pea amount of this each time, whether you should or not is your choice but I like to use a lot to really smooth the surface of my skin.  The concealers have hit pan on the lighter colour but still a good few weeks of use left, ditto with the face powder which has now hit pan but still plenty left.

All in all a great set, I have found a love for all the products, annoyingly I reckon I'd only get my desired look with all of these products which could work out costly for full size however I'd probably be quite happy to buy this set again as it works out a great price and perfect for travelling too with a fairly big decent mirror on the cover too. With the box being sturdy itself.

The set costs £25.50 from Feel Unique and can be found [HERE].

The title is as crazy as this post will be, a big mish mash of reviews in one, mainly focusing on HD brows treatment along with a review of their eyebrow pencil which itself is a magnificent product!

A few weeks ago I attended the Company Beauty Forum, an event I've reviewed and talked about right here [LINK]. A salon that uses HD Brows as a treatment was there doing threading and HD brow treatments for free (or part of your ticket price really if you see it that way) and I thought I'd take full advantage. I've always been eager to try HD brows, it seems such a great idea and as someone with light and hard to work with brows it was a great change. I had them shaped with threading which is a sharp quick pain, not painful as such but a sensation that makes your eyes water, no different to wax or plucking in my opinion and trimmed perfectly and then filled in with the pencil!

The pencil is really quite special. To unveil your pencil you pull the string to pull more available, you then sharpen with a blade to create a thin effect, not a pencil shape. This thin line creates the hair strokes which makes this look way more natural than drawing on with a pencil. So the sharper the pencil edge, the more realistic it will look.

I have had my eyebrows waxed many times, and then been plucking more recently since I've moved since I haven't found a salon yet and haven't intended to retreat from my salon, I'm so loyal to them as I used to work there!  But threading was really easy, and I like that I managed to get the top fair hairs above my brows and the arch put in, which I've never achieved before and therefore my brows looked quite flat.

As you can see below, the results of the threading and the filling in. It still looks natural with my blonde hair as I am using the brown pencil, but they also do a black. Now I have brown hair, this works perfectly too! You'd go harder or more full if you felt you needed the darkness.

The pencil is available from their website here [LINK] for £11.95 but the revolutionary pencil shape and the effect is so worth the price!

Hi All, Update after a long over due one! As you may know I live in London now, and its been a busy ol month!

At the beginning of the month I had my reading week, what a week that was! Was a very busy, emotional week and was glad when it was over. As you may know I dyed my hair in this week too! I miss blonde though, so I'm sure I will let it fade and go back to my blonde roots!

I also got myself a JOB! Yay! After three years of having a part time job, and paying my own way in life, I was really not finding it easy to not work, I hated doing nothing on a saturday, so applied lots and now work not far from Oxford Street! Loving the fact I work near it, its great to be so close to such a buzzing part of London! I am also working for L'Occitane so its great to work for such a good brand too and I'm really enjoying it. I'm a xmas temp at the moment, so will see what the future holds but its great to have a job again!

I also had gone to see the christmas lights turn on at Oxford Street, which although I'm surprised it wasn't busier or better, it was good to say I've done it and it started my christmas countdown, YES I have been playing christmas songs all week!

Then last week, a friend from home came to London and we went to TGI Fridays, why had no one told me about this place before?! AMAZING cocktails, (an annoying wait for a table) but was worth it, had a steak and this AMAZING chocolate cake.

However, its definitely obvious I need to cut back on the chocolate, maybe get me some protein bars such as Trek from Natural Balance Foods, these would be a perfect replacement for the fact I'm not so good with having breakfast everyday, and you can get a wonderful assortment in cases from their website, so you don't run out quickly! I think I'd still go for the chocolate brownie but with 12g of protein I'd be getting enough to get me through my day!  I need to find myself a gym membership to actually cut down some of this calorie intake! There are so many nice places to eat but not so many cheap places to lose it all!

It has to be said though, I did make brownies for me and my flatmates and I used a very studenty method of cooling them so they were available to eat quicker!

Thats all from me for now, so much work to be cracking on with. Expect lots of blogs from me in the next few weeks though! Determined to get some posts up!

Last night I attended the Company Beauty Forum, hosted by Company Magazine. I decided since I finally live in London to take full advantage of the events for bloggers around the city! This is my first ever blogger and beauty event so was a great starter! I met up with Sophie from Sophie Said and Thalia from fashiongalaxiesox who were really lovely to let me join them and was great to meet some more bloggers!

As you entered you received champagne on the door and then in the hall was a small selection of brands and demos. Bourjois were doing makeovers and manicures, I had my nails done and to ensure I had time to look at other items I only had a colour painted with the most beautiful greens! Thank you to Sophie too who took this photo for me!

There was also Lee Stafford doing hair styling, a lashes company that I didn't get time to check out and HD brows being done by iBrowsetc. I really wanted my brows done so I made sure to get a ticket and luckily got my brows done just in time before the Q&A talk. I will be blogging about HD brows soon so will talk about the pencil and results then but I am so pleased with them. I had them threaded and then trimmed (which was a scary thought to begin) and then penciled in and they FINALLY have the arch I've been trying so hard to achieve! I really like the outcome and pencil is really easy to use, so is something I can use without looking like I have caterpillar brows, my absolute pet hate!

I then went to sit down with Sophie and Thalia and listened to the Q&A from a huge panel! Fleur from Fleurdeforce , Lilly from Lilypebbles , members of the Company team, Lisa Potter Dixon from Benefit, Lee Stafford, Rachael Houghton from Bourjois, Nathalie Eleni!

A lot of questions were covered, and a lot of topics that are more often or not answered in #bbloggers chats were covered but I decided to task a question.

I asked "A lot of people can take the idea of freebies as always going to be a good and positive review, how do you avoid that misconception, especially with sponsored posts? "

Fleur responded that theres a trust within your audience and readers and if you break it you lose a lot just over a review, theres almost an unwritten code that its just not going to help yourself in the long term to go about that mentality. She had previously answered a question with if the mentality is to blog for the freebies then you're already in the wrong as its not what blogging is about.  With sponsored posts too, its about choosing brands you already like and trust so you're not obliged to say you like it because you already do like the brand.

I really enjoyed the talk aswell as talking with brand pr after and a great way to network! I didn't know if many bloggers were there but it was open to beauty therapists and makeup artists too so was a wide range! A great way to start Media Planning  and expanding your blog platforms! We left with a goodie bag of course and had a great selection of items within it!

I'm looking forward to attending more events in the near future too!

Batiste are back with yet another great scent and a gorgeous can. The Batiste Oritenal is the newest edition with inspiration from autumnal and winter catwalk style influenced by the East that have been heavily added to designs everywhere this season.

The scent this season is an infusion of Apple, Wild Berry and Grape, Jasmine and Iris with Coconut and Sandalwood with more base notes too. A real mix of scents to create a light fragrant spray for the hair. The fragrance is what gives your choosing to a Batiste choice, this time its a uplighting lighter fragrance and perfect for everyday use or not to be too overpowering.

How to use: Shake the can vigorously, then, keeping the nozzle about 30cm from your hair, spray into roots, lifting sections for maximum coverage. Massage through with fingertips and then brush and style.

Batiste can be bought from Superdrug, Boots and many superstores for £2.99.

I had come to the conclusion as much as it was extremely helpful for my mum to pack generally everything for my uni move, I was missing some luxuries and bits and pieces. So over the last week I've been gaining some goodies to add up and make it more homely.

At the weekend I went to a London Shopping Centre and ventured through all the shops that are now on my door step.

Slippers are a must in halls, this is something I've come to realise within the first days, as I still had money on my voucher I decided to get myself some really damm comfy ones. Slippers are a must because your room is yours, however the hall ways and lobby and running to other rooms and what not is not always as easy and as accessible in your socks or it gets annoying chucking on shoes so it was nice to treat myself to better comfy slippers! Yes, I'm fully fledging winter clothing event though London and my halls are like the sauna's of the UK.

Three of my most important purchases were hand cream, nail polish remover and shower caps. Hand cream because I have been stressing about everything recently so I pick at my nails and its been ruining them so have picked up a small Hand Food by Soap and Glory. The best hand cream by far and perfect for a handbag and only £2.50 so super great for travelling and what not! Nail polish remover was a must, I simply couldn't resist bringing all my polishes to uni so need to update my nails often! And shower caps for the days I don't need to wash my hair. Simple necessities.

I also bought this adorable laundry bag that suits my room so well and has the cute kitsch floral print that I love and think accessorise like this are the type of style I want to jazz up my room with since you cannot paint it or adjust pieces. This was from a home wares store in my hometown but I'm sure you can find similar items in home ware/kitchen shops!

To get organised and really on top of deadlines and my game this year I bought myself the best academic diary I've ever witnessed in my opinion, truly a big stationary geek but this is exactly what I was looking for and has all these random extras like how to wash clothes, recipes, Chinese calendar, timetables, reading list, tutor tips and each week comes with a study tip. This was £8 from Waterstones but also on amazon for £6.66 [LINK]

And lastly for now my new bag which I love! My everyday bag was slowly dying and needed replacing after a long time! So here's my new everyday bag that fits my macbook as well as all my bits and pieces! This was £19.99 and a real bargain in my opinion!
Ive still got some bits to get and really get organised but really enjoying buying all these weird new bits for my room, and for a lover of new stationary and getting organised its been fun! I'll soon regret those words soon though!

It was also good to see family and friends recently, feeling homesick was hard but so appreciative of my friends and those who count, those who may even read this blog post that I'm so thankful for their support and love. Who'd of thought I'd be homesick after wanting to get away for so long!

Dr Feel Good Benefit The Beauty Type

Benefit is easily my favourite high end brand, I love the ethics, the style of products, the range and the quality. A few months back I bought this balm off a blog sale to give a try. At first try I didnt really 'get' the product. Was it a primer? Setting powder/cream? It seemed odd to me. However I've finally got the knack of it!

 Dr Feel Good Benefit Cosmetics

I've been using this to finalise my makeup basically, I apply everything including face powder, then use a basic really cheap foundation brush to wake the product up to gain the creamy consistency and then sweep over my face, I do this gently so not to mix products up too much and mainly focus on my t-zone and carefully on the apples of my cheeks. These are generally where makeup can fade on my skin.

It does come with a sponge but as I bought mine from a blog sale I didn't use this, and I wouldn't even if it did. I really dislike freebie brushes generally as they're hard and sponges for me are a BIG NO. I really dislike sponges as they're breading grounds for bacteria and hard to clean well. So a foundation brush is really easy to rewash and use.

The consistency of this is really weird I'll admit that, when you first open it and touch it is a very dry almost powder like texture, its once you work it with a brush or your finger the cream is revealed, however its very powder like to the touch too and blends quickly and seamlessly into the skin. It feels dry on your fingers or brush at first but once blended into the skin you don't feel a heavy cream or anything it just feels like a blended primer or powder.

It also looks slightly yellow in the pan but doesn't come off with any colour on the skin.

 Dr Feel Good Benefit Cosmetics

Overall, it creates a really long lasting finishing touch to any makeup look. I especially like this for evening or hot weather as it keeps shine away, keeps the makeup lasting and gives a great touch to the skin. I wouldn't say I use it everyday as I don't always feel I need this step but for when I do go all out and heavy makeup I do think this is a great addition.

You can buy this from a number of places such as Benefit Counters or online [LINK] for £22.50!

I finally live in London! Everything I've been working for has ended to a big change and now a student at City Uni. I'm studying Journalism as you may all know thats what I've wanted to be for a long time so finally cracking on with it all.  My course starts fully on Monday but thought a blog post was due easily and full posts to return as normal in the next few days.

I've not gone too far into the city yet but all in good time and lots to see and do and lots of time to do so aswell! I cant wait to attend some blogging events too later in the year aswell!

My uni room looks as below, I am in a halls and I really like my room, spacious, comfy and easy. Loud doors but I'm getting used to it all, I do miss my bed but this bed isn't too bad so I'm happy! Cooking has been fun but will keep updated on any adventurous things there!

I have so much to say but just wanted to do the basic i'm at uni post and will update with room improvements, life at uni, sightseeing and any hauls or shopping which shall obviously be done!

So this is it! I'm a city girl now!

Benefit How To Look The Best At Everything [LINK] £25.50 // Bare Minerals Original Foundation in Fairly Light [LINK] £19.95// Rimmel London Apocolips in Nova [LINK] £5.99. Three free samples of selected perfumes.

Yesterday I placed an order for these goodies on to treat myself and get some new products for uni and the winter because we cannot run out of foundation, that is simply something that cannot happen!  As I said I placed it yesterday just before 1pm, it was despatched within an hour and arrived this morning, this was on the 1st class delivery but this was only £2.50 so thought it was a incredible price for 1st class too, and to arrive within 24 hours made my morning!  They do also do a free delivery service which is always a plus but I decided to go for 1st class!

After seeing Lisa Potter-Dixon on QVC showcasing this Benefit set I had to get my hands on it! Benefit is my favourite brand hands down but you really have to treat yourself as they can add up in price but this set was perfect, when Lisa showed a before and after on the model by simply using this face perfecting kit I knew I'd love it. I love porefessional already and have been interested in their concealers more so this was a good way to try them all out too! Cant wait to start using this and finding some more loves from Benefit!

This foundation from Bare Minerals is a repurchase, I loved using this before and found it was a great foundation for everyday use, the colour suits me so well and gives a really flawless look to the face without looking over powdered. Will happily repurchase this often!

As I had a gift voucher I thought I'd add up the last few pounds and finally try the hype of Rimmel Apocolips in Nova. Although there were THOUSANDS of reviews on these I just was thinking it was a big hype over nothing, but unfortunately, it isn't. It is a GORGEOUS lip colour and not sticky, so pigmented and gorgeous. Luckily aswell this is totally my colour too, a beautiful hot pink too! I'm in love and its name is Nova!

Something I love about some companies is samples. I think they cant expect you to pay so much for some products and always shove offers at you and not give you something small in return. Liz Earle for example always give you a generously sized sample which more often or not has led to a new purchase. With Feel Unique you can spend up to £30 I believe and choose three free perfume samples and all high end brands too. These type of samples are great for handbags and nights out as they're small and true so they are great for a quick spritz!

This is the first shop I've done at feel unique but I am so impressed, my order came really well packed, the free samples were a great addition, the postage was incredible and the website is really easy to use too, plus if I was to use free delivery I do love that too! One happy customer! photo thebeautytypecom_zpsac3c6c2a.jpg

Small haul time, for some basics as well as mini treats for me. Everyone has those days where we wanna buy a new makeup item just because we want to treat ourselves right? Just me, and these days end up being very often too! Oops!

I needed to get more toner and another moisturiser, generally have been buying Simple but when I noticed in Boots this range directly next to the Simple range and at a really low price of around £1.90+ I was sold and when comparing ingredients and use they're practically the same so will take these off to university with me and see how they par when I get round to using them. Currently trying to work on getting rid of half bottles so I don't have random bottles of stuff to take with me and everything can be new and exciting!

The link for Boots Simply Sensitive range can be found here but at the current time their website is not opening the link so please try again soon or check out store as the range is currently on offer and has great discounts! [LINK]

And of course, to treat myself after a rather odd week I wanted to add to the nail polish collection, ultimately I have a lot of polishes, however, I rarely buy expensive polishes so these £1 MUA ones are great to add different colours and aren't bad for application and wear for £1! Always a nice treat! I will admit I am tempted to buy the one direction colours too... but they're so pretty and quite big too! The purple shade is called Plum Noir and the darker is Stormy Skies which has a great green metallic sheen to it! Perfect for £1!

Monday, 26 August 2013

Getting my nail polish to stay un-chipped and generally look half decent on my nails barely lasts a day. If anything its chipped within the day. I'm quite good at bumping things and having reasons to chip them at work and what not but it almost feels pointless painting your nails if they arent going to look good for over a day.

It doesn't take much for a beauty purchase for me, I had received a good dentist trip and found out I never have to see my orthodontist again, so thought I'd make a mini trip to Superdrug and treat myself, I was going to buy the new Barry M Gellys but even still they weren't going to stay so thought it was about time I bought myself a top/base coat. One to make it stay and last and to look shiny again! Most of my polishes can look dull too. Even those that are higher brands some can look dull with wear and tear.

Superdrug had Sally Hansens Double Duty Base and Top Coat on offer for just £3.95, normal price of £4.95 which is a bargain as I know Orly's Top 2 Bottom is around the £10 mark! This is a two in one product, to create a canvas to apply polish on, to create the barrier to stop nails going weak due to polishes and then applies after the colour has been applied to create a non chip coat as well as create the shiny effect!

I can safely say the results are good! The manicure I applied of Nails Inc in   lasted without any chips three days and only on the fourth day did one chip appear, by the 6th day they were all chipping and one nail colour peeled off (which was odd but hasn't ruined my nail). So to have a perfect manicure for three days was a huge success and really impressed me!

Sally Hansen Double Duty is available from Superdrug and can be purchased here! LINK

I also have to conclude this, by saying that has had approval from the boyfriend for no chipped manicure and if that doesn't constitute a good product I really don't know what does!
