BOOSTING YOUR BODY CONFIDENCE*

This is contributed content.

Recently, I have been thinking a lot about body confidence and how it affects us girlies. Believe it or not, even the most confident of women - aka, Beyonce, have their body hang-ups. Today, we are living in an age where it’s seen as being normal to dislike how we look, but that shouldn’t be the case.

Although I am happy with my appearance now, I can remember when I was younger that I struggled with my body confidence. We all have our own issues with our bodies - things that we like and dislike about ourselves, and it can be all too easy to get hung up on them.

Luckily, if your body confidence is low, boosting it isn’t too tricky. So, whether you dislike your curves or hate the shape of your nose, you can become more confident with your appearance. Intrigued? Yes - then keep reading below for all my top body confidence-building tips:

Don’t talk negatively about your body

Us girls have got into the habit of talking negatively about our bodies, and it needs to stop. The main problem is other women, when a friend says, ‘I am so fat’, we then instantly start mentioning the things that we hate about our own bodies.

If another woman says that she dislikes something about her body, this doesn’t mean that you should negatively talk about your own body. To make her feel better about herself, you don’t need to shame your own appearance. Say something like, ‘No, your nose isn’t too big, you look fantastic’, instead of saying negative things about yourself.

Learn to love your body for what it is

So what if your thighs are wider than your friends or you wear a larger dress size, it doesn’t matter. The size or shape of your body shouldn’t define it, no matter what your body looks like, you need to learn to love it.

Yes, I know that this is easier said than done, but it’s important. If you don’t like something about your appearance, you need to focus on why that is - what is it that makes you dislike it? Instead of focusing on the negatives of your body - the things that you don’t like, focus on the positives.

Transform your body

Okay, this may sound a little odd, as we are talking about body confidence but hear me out. If there is something about your body that you dislike and just can’t get passed, think about how you could transform it into a feature that you love.

If, for example, you dislike that fact that your body isn’t toned, do something about it and tone up. Start off by using healthy eating and exercise to lose weight and tone up. However, if this doesn’t work - some areas are hard to tone, consider your options. If you have an area of stubborn fat that is stopping you from being able to tone, your only option might be liposuction. Yes, we shouldn’t have to resort to surgery, to be happy with how we look, but sometimes it’s necessary. If you do decide to go under the knife, opt to have your treatment done by somebody who is highly recommended, like Dr. David Halpern.

Just make sure that if, for any reason, you decide to go under the knife, that you only do it because you want to. If changing something about your body will allow you to be happy and confident, then there is no reason not to do it.

Treat yourself well

I always find that I feel 100 times better about my appearance when I treat myself well. Going on a shopping spree, getting a new haircut, getting my nails done, all make me feel amazing. There is something about knowing that I look stylish and well put together that gives my body confidence an instant boost.

While it can sometimes seem impossible to boost your body confidence, it’s really not. Yes, it can be hard to start off with, but once you start loving your body, confidence will start to build up, and you will learn to love yourself.
