For those of you who don’t know what skin pigmentation is, it’s when your skin becomes discoloured. Your skin get’s it’s colouring from a pigment called melanin. If it’s production and distribution is disrupted, it can manifest into dark spots on your skin. These are most commonly caused by getting older and UV rays. Dark spots usually appear over time on the face, chest and hands. This can make many people feel self-conscious and significantly affects their self-esteem. Thankfully there are some things you can do to reduce your dark spots and regain the youthful looking skin you once had.

Boost your vitamin E intake
Eating foods that contain vitamin E is an easy and natural way of treating your skin pigmentation. This vitamin can help improve the skin’s elasticity while also helping to remove the spots naturally. Avocado, fish and spinach are just a few examples you could introduce into your weekly meals. Many different foods contain this useful vitamin, making it easy to include it into your diet. You can also boost your intake by consuming daily vitamin tablets or by using creams and oils with vitamin E included. This may not give you the instant results you desire, but be patient and you should notice a difference in no time.

Commit to your skincare routine
Treating your skin pigmentation is something you need to commit to if you want to get flawless looking skin again. It’s not something that you can treat once and will require continual treatment to reduce the dark spots appearance. As well as regular treatments you also need to use suitable products and treatments. You could try a useful spots whitening corrector or an intensely hydrating moisturiser that you apply twice daily. Or you could book yourself in at a local beauty spa for a chemical peel treatment for instant results. You will also have to start getting into the habit of applying a high factor sunscreen every day. These options are just a few examples of how you can treat your pigmentation issues and prevent further damage being caused. It may seem like a lot of hassle but it will all be worthwhile.

Drink more water
If you aren’t drinking your recommended 8-10 glasses of water every day, your skin is probably dehydrated and dry. This can make your skin vulnerable to more damage and make your age or dark spots more pronounced. Water can help your skin stay supple, repair itself and keep it free from pigmentation. So you need to get drinking more of it each day. Invest in a handy sized water bottle you can carry around with you. You could also download an app on your phone to keep track of your water intake.

The best way of treating your skin pigmentation issues is with prevention. You need to start a daily skin care regime and applying sunscreen every day. This will stop more dark spots from developing and make you proud to show off your perfect skin.
