In September I treated myself and Dan to a weekend in Edinburgh for D's birthday. The city was absolutely perfect and probably one of my favourite trips we've ever been on. What made our stay even better was the amazing room and services we had at 24 Royal Terrace, Edinburgh's best kept secret!
Now, I normally wouldn't start a review with breakfast pictures but how good does this look? Everytime I see this photo I become instantly hungry for scottish strawberries, homemade french toast and maple syrup! Dan had the smoked scottish salmon and eggs on a homemade muffin. Nothing about this hotel was generic.
Although breakfast comes at a little extra cost, it is so worth the money of around £15 each a day. Although you'd normally pay that in a Hilton or Premier Inn and then get a generic breakfast, this hotel made everything from scratch and provided fresh yummy ingredients.
Now onto the hotel itself, 24 Royal Terrace is not only the name, but address. The hotel is on a cobbled street with beautiful buildings and hotels alike. It is set just outside of town but in a suitable walk that makes it a great retreat as much as an inclusion to the city.
The Royal Terrace isn't loaded with rooms but has around 20 rooms including apartments for self catering and even some rooms with freestanding bath tubs. One day I'll have a room like that!
The walls of the hotel are decorated vastly with artwork, all interesting and hugely different but works perfectly together.
We were given a top room floor which if you're not good with stairs, won't be good for you but it was perfect to be so high up and have such a great view of the sea and distance. The hotel isn't completely silent due to the old walls which are a tad thin but this never stopped our sleep.
Every single touch to this hotel has been carefully thought through, I literally dream and miss it so much. Edinburgh has so much to see and do and this hotel was the perfect place to rest our heads. The service is second to none and we found everyone so lovely and chatty. The brownie, I highly recommend with a coffee in their bar or garden terrace on a warm day.
I literally can't rave about this enough, if you're going to Edinburgh, go to Royal Terrace, you won't be disappointed. Find out more on their website www.24royalterrace.co.uk.
