A few days before Christmas, Dan and I were lucky enough to try the new Autumn/Winter menu at Jamie's Italian in Milton Keynes. The Italian chain has been going for a while now and having eaten at the Cambridge branch before, I was excited to try a new venue and new menu! The restaurant is spacious and has a varied array of booths and tables with a really relaxed vibe!

With an extensive menu we were spoilt for choice and we wanted to try as much as possible! To start we went for the Classic Meat Plank which featured fennel salami, pistachio mortadella, prosciutto and schicciata picante, with mini buffalo mozzarella, pecorino and chilli jam on music bread, pickles, olives and purple slaw.

This plank was really nice, the hams practically melted in your mouth and the slaw was a really refreshing treat.

We also went for the pork crackling and apple sauce from the nibbles section, we thought these would of come out before our starter so we would have had them separately but they were still really nice. They were freshly made and the apple sauce was really thick - the way it should be!

For mains, I went for the Crab Spaghetti. this had a plentiful load of British crab, with lots of chilli, tomato and a white wine and garlic sauce. This was a hot pasta spice wise but it was really tasty. The crab was a interesting addition as home made pastas tend to be chicken or mince. The pasta was al-dente and really filled me up!

Dan ordered the Spinach and Ricotta Crispelle which was buckwheat pancakes with plenty mozzarella and a tomato sauce. He loved this and the side salad with rocket was a great addition to the main. Dan normally orders meat mains but decided on the veggie option and he loved it,  he actually said how pleasantly surprised he was by how good it was!

Dan also wanted to try the superfood salad with smoked salmon (I know, we definitely over-ordered, we had chips too!!) which looked different to the usual salads but complimented both of our foods really well. The salad was a mix of avocado, beets, pulses and grains, broccoli, pomegranate and spicy seeds and a Harissa dressing with cottage cheese.

Our meal was so nice, we were really surprised by how tasty, well made and fresh everything was. Although we try to avoid chains, we have definitely found a new love and will be returning very very soon! The staff, drinks and food were 10/10 and we completely recommend it to anyone in Milton Keynes looking for a hideaway during a shopping day!
