As soon as I finished university and just before I started full-time work I knew I needed a week off in a hot country! We chose the Maritim Galatzo in Costa De La Calma in Majorca after seeing great reviews and pictures and we booked through Voyage Prive. I am constantly checking out the website for deals and Secret Escapes and really recommend it for fabulous deals! We absolutely loved our stay in Majorca, I will be posting the holiday in instalments but I thought it was fitting to talk about the hotel first!
The hotel itself sits off a slip road from the main road but hidden in the beautiful hill-top overlooking the sea and surrounding villages. The hotel is huge, it has main building with rooms as well as many external buildings, bungalows and villas. We were lucky enough to be given a bungalow which had 6 other ‘rooms’ around us, which was perfect for the quiet and space! Our view was stunning and we had a lovely little balcony with table and chairs for relaxing in the evening or morning.
The balcony even had one of those drying racks for your towels and bikini, a real plus! We could see the town of Santa Ponca from our room which held a beach, it was very ‘British’ and in my opinion a small step up from Magaluf (not my cup of tea) but we did visit, we had no idea what to expect. However on the right, with a good and I mean a GOOD walk down a long track hill, you reach the town of Peguera which is primarily focused towards its German tourists. This was a better town for facilities, restaurants and a general Spanish look. It wasn’t a problem it being German focused as they catered for the English all the same.
The actual room was beautiful. It was so spacious and we were so impressed. The room felt very modern and had everything we needed. The beds were two twins together, I know this can annoy some people but when we’re in a hot country, me and Dan appreciate the space!!
There was a television, a fridge (which is very much appreciated) and the mini bar prices were the same as the bar which was very reasonable and appreciated when you fancied a drink on your balcony! It had a desk and ample storage space with a table and small lounge chair.
We really liked the curtains in the room too, the first night we went to bed we closed the curtains and were so surprised by how dark it was. Something we really appreciate as our last holiday we had really thin curtains that kept us awake. Here we slept through solid and really got some rest, it was perfect, comfortable beds, good linen and quiet rooms. We wouldn’t of ever known we were next to people, night-ime or morning!
The Bathroom was HUGE! Maybe as big as the bedroom itself! We got toiletries, a really good shower and robes. I do appreciate good robes in hotels, they’re so helpful!
Pool towels are supplied and can be freshened up when necessary. Upon arrival to the hotel itself you check in, and are given a complimentary glass of Cava. A lovely added touch which makes you feel very excited to be on holiday!
The hotel has two pools, both with plentiful sunbeds, there are also poolside sun beds with the double bed style canopies at the second pool away from the main complex which is great to relax and feel very luxurious and comfy. The bars are great for a cold drink, snacks or lunch and not overly expensive either!
The evening entertainment really impressed us, normally we don’t care for it, or haven’t been to a place with great entertainment but we loved the entertainment here. The bar was great for an evening drink as well as sitting outside to enjoy the dancing, singing, music, you name it, it changed every evening and really made you enjoy an evening! Make sure you have a room away from the hotel if you don’t like evening music mind! You will here it!
The dinner and breakfast is great, plentiful choices, great staff, lovely choices and good quality food. We loved having steak, huge prawns, fish, fresh vegetables and a salad selection. I love a buffet dinner and this worked perfectly after a long day walking and exploring.
Maritim Galatzo is a great hotel for a breakaway, a seven-day holiday would be perfect here, we did five and it was plentiful and we enjoyed it! It’s not for those who wish to explore, but don’t wish to walk hills every day but it has everything you need in the hotel regardless. We also made good use of the spa facilities which had sauna, steam room, indoor pool and fitness facilities.
If you want to know more about the hotel check out their website here [LINK]. I will be posting more pictures from our holiday too in the next few weeks so be sure to check that out! Keep an eye on Voyage Prive and Secret Escapes for more deals from this hotel as they do add rooms and holidays every few weeks!
