A few weeks ago now, Dan and I were lucky enough to be invited over to Essex to join a handful of bloggers in some early festive merriment! Currys PC World along with AEG put on a great event at The Cookery in Hoddesdon to get our cooking aprons on and learn how to make the ULTIMATE Christmas dinner.
The Cookery itself is a cooking school filled with loads of workbenches, hobs and all the tools you’ll need to learn from pro chefs. The ovens that cover the main wall of the school are all AEG and they’re some of the newest and most clever ovens that AEG have to offer. With various cooking functions, temperature controls and various types of the oven itself, we were educated in all things roast dinner. We learnt about the food sensors and surround cooking system inside the ovens which allows for an accurate cooking control, ideal for getting the perfect turkey or Christmas dish! The lovely chefs and owners of the business cooked a rib of beef (worth £100 may I add!) and a crown of turkey along with all the traditional sides and showed us how in the ovens, they were able to control and slowly cook the meats to absolute perfection.
Before we tucked into the main meal, we got to make a veggie starter which was a Vegetable Wellington. We learnt how the veggies had been marinated in oil and cooked slowly in a low oven and then we used filo pastry to create our own layered veggie dish. These came out like little Christmas parcels, the ideal light starter for any Christmas meal or at any time of the year!
Then we went onto mince pies, we rolled out the pastry and shapes then filled these into our cases ready to be baked in the AEG ovens which came out perfectly! This concluded our meal which meant we had the starter, main and took our dessert home with us! There was lots of fizz, Christmas songs and happy faces so it was the perfect way to kick off December!
The whole event was lovely, it was such an enjoyable environment, the school is so welcoming, warm and the equipment and facilities are really impressive. If you want to learn how to nail the perfect roast dinner, just like we did, find out how to on the Curry’s website here [LINK]. Writing this post has put me back in the Christmas zone! Who’s for a roastie!?
