How a lick of paint and a new mattress can change a room!

If you have been following a few of our renovation posts you’ll know that our bedroom is one room that has been neglected. When the team at Leesa (FYI, great name) got in touch to try one of their highly raved about mattresses I jumped at the chance as we had been looking at a new mattress weeks before. They have kindly gifted us a matress to review and so it felt only right to re-vamp our bedroom in the process.

You have probably seen Leesa mattresses everywhere recently. Their easy ‘mattress in a box’ to your door feature allows them to be super accessible for everyone and generally a bit cheaper than a high-street equivalent.

The firmness and quality!

We were super sceptical of the quality of a mattress that arrived in a box. You wonder how something that inflates on your bed in a matter of minutes and is made of ‘foam’ is going to be firm. We needed a firm mattress for Dan’s back as he suffers badly with a bad back and so it’s very important to get this right – medically if not for comfort.

We’re converted – it’s an amazing mattress. Everyone bangs on about how well they slept but it’s seriously firm. You would be surprised at what a box rolled up into nothing can do. I was so worried we’d sink in but unlike a tempur. It supports all of you and there’s no bounce so you don’t even notice the other half get out of bed.

What’s the cost?

The most important part of any purchase – the cost. The Leesa mattresses vary in cost but as I say, are quite competitive for a memory foam mattress in a box. A single, £399, a double is £599, king £699 and super king £769.

For us a king mattress is a lot more in the shops and some of the mattresses we had looked at in the shops we’re around this price anyway so to have it easily delivered was a breeze. I would absolutely recommend a Leesa mattress for a flat or apartment. Although you can’t compress them when you move out, for a move in – you’ll be laughing at how easy it is to get up the stairs of a lift.

How well did we sleep?

The final verdict is that Dan expected it to feel spongey but it’s a surprise how evenly firm it is. It took some convincing for him to let us get a memory foam mattress. This is so different and we are so happy to sleep on it overnight. It never gets too hot nor cold. We no longer meet in the middle of the bed half way through the night either. A real result and we couldn’t recommend them more to anyone who’s looking for a update!

The only hard part is that it’s so firm and tall, you can’t easily put your socks on by sitting on the edge! A real first world problem!

Our before and after!

Our bedroom originally had a purple ceiling and pink walls. We got rid of the weird ceiling a few months ago but now it was time to update the walls. The colour we chose was Dulux Egyptian Cotton which is a mix between a cream and grey. Originally I had picked a pinky colour thinking it was totally different to our current pink. It was so close it was probably the same colour so I had to rethink. I’m so glad I did.

It is now a refreshing calm colour and looks so stylish next to our new mattress! We’ll eventually update some of the furniture in here and get some new curtains and this room will be done. It was probably the easiest room but has taken us well over seven months to change.

It really is easy to make your bedroom a more desirable place with a lick of paint and a new mattress! Especially a luxurious update as a Leesa Mattress. Check out the full range here [LINK].
